I have got an Acer Aspire On D260 from 2010. Has got a 250 GB Sata harddisk. The real bottleneck is the single core Atom CPU 450N with hyperthreading and the 990 MB of memory, which I have never bothered to upgrade to 2 GB. Running it as a triple boot Linux machine nonetheless. Must be some kind of technical masochism.

That is quite a fair price, as Netbooks with configurations like this one cost around Rs. 15,000, plus a Tata Photon+ dongle would cost you about Rs. 2,000. The AOD260 is a pretty decent buy if you're looking for a typical Netbook that'll save you the trouble of carrying a USB 3G dongle every time. Another way of looking at it is this - a built-in 3G modem means you cannot enable any other PC with its wireless broadband internet (unless you make this netbook behave like a Wi-fi router using apps like Connectify). But then keep your expectations very modest with this one, as the combination of 1GB RAM, single-core Atom processor and Windows 7 Starter cannot take too much load. Its identical cousin without the 3G powers, the Gateway LT23, costs Rs. 22,700 + taxes. Although the 2GB RAM and 320GB hard drive sounds like a bargain, we think it's somewhat a sore one when you compare it to the HP Mini 210, which has all of that, plus a faster GHz Intel Atom processor, not to mention a much better designed keyboard. Little other details are known right now, although Acer’s mobile product manager, Martino Mombrini, apparently revealed that the chassis will be getting a redesign. Acer recently announced the D260 netbook. This netbook will have the ability to dual boot Windows 7 and Android. It will be released on July 1st, finally an Android netbook/tablet type device that we can actually go out and purchase. Acer claims that you could dual boot this netbook from Windows to Android in 15 seconds. It has 8 hours of battery life and the option to have an Intel Atom N455 or Atom N450 processor at GHz. It also has a inch screen with an integrated webcam. As expected there’s Wi-Fi b/g/n with Bluetooth and 10/100 Ethernet. There are also three USB ports, VGA, multi-format memory reader and audio in/out. If we’re lucky it could land on one of carriers because it also has quad band 3G/UMTS. The price has yet to be announced, it should be fairly reasonable. [via slashgear]
